What does an advice-only financial planner do?
Aug 24, 2026What does an advice-only financial planner do?
The simplest answer is that I help you make informed decisions about your entire financial life, without selling you anything.
I look at how all the pieces fit together, including your cash flow, investments, taxes, retirement, pensions, insurance, estate planning, and the goals that are important to you.
Because I do not sell investments or insurance, and I do not earn commissions, my only job is to give you honest, unbiased advice. You do not need to move your money to me, and you remain in control of your accounts and your decisions.
But advice-only planning also does not mean that I create a plan, hand it to you, and send you on your way.
A big part of my job is helping you understand the recommendations and build the confidence and knowledge to put them into action. Every engagement ends with a clear implementation plan covering what you can do this year and what to consider over the next two or three years.
And if you need more help, I also offer ongoing support to answer questions and help you work through the steps we have identified together.
